With the growing corporate world, there has been a rise of employees in each and every organization. Managing this ever-increasing workforce can be a huge task for the organization. The role of human resource department has gone from the traditional ‘recruiting and hiring’ process to an in-depth position, focusing on other aspects of the company. Human Resource department is considered as the heart of an organization. For better business success and enhanced workforce management, the HR department plays a vital role. All the primary employee-centric needs are taken care by HR professionals. They make sure that the work flows smoothly and focus on employee engagement, management, and all different aspects of the organization.
During these tough times, where people are confined to their homes due to COVID-19, organizations are seeking alternate corporate strategies, such as using technologies to support those working from home. Crisis management and business continuity are the top challenges faced by the HR department during these tough times. From managing flexible work arrangements, employee communications, increasing awareness, addressing employee concerns, reviewing welfare police to uplifting the spirit of employees, the HR department needs to look into all these aspects. In Woodkraft, our HR department of 6, has also evolved tremendously. Most tasks like leave, payroll, income tax offers, onboarding documentation, PMS and many more which was earlier undertaken by traditional methods are now done digitally by our HR professionals. Due to this investment in HR technologies our team can provide much more valuable service to the company while improving the team’s morale and productivity.
The HR department is also responsible for growth and proper training of an individual within the organization. The HR professionals need to organize developmental programs for each department. They need to collaborate with respective departments and try to arrange programs that would help them develop as per their needs, which in return yields better result for the company. With the rise in employees, HR professionals in Woodkraft took charge in training, developing and successfully organizing workshops and pushing many online training programs to employees for them to adapt and adopt the digital way during this pandemic.
The HR department also needs to ensure the work environment be healthy and employee friendly. They need to maintain such an environment where employees feel like returning. The HR team needs to look into the requirements of every employee and ensure a high level of morale persist among employees. They also need to develop new strategies to keep the expenditure to a minimum, while ensuring employees are provided with all the benefits. At Woodkraft, the HR professionals are charged with looking into employee satisfaction to increase the odds that employees remain happy at work and continue to stick around for the foreseeable future. Currently, the team in the organization instead of focusing on personal management and administrative tasks, are spending more time managing employee engagement and strengthening the culture of the organization.
Along with these functions, the HR department also needs to look into and manage personal and confidential information such as employee’s contract, job responsibility, discipline records and performance assessments. They also need to keep up and handle legal compliance which refers to various labor laws. This comprises of informing employees about the union and state laws on information like overtime, minimum wage, and any sort of discrimination. HR professionals need to keep the organization in tune with any changes to the business and government legislative and ruling if necessary.
An HR professional plays a very important part in the organization, from acting as a ‘middleman’ between management and employees, holding up the integrity of the company, to ensuring growth of an individual indirectly helping the company grow.
